On June 25, 2025, Chao Naipeng, Vice President of Shenzhen University, led a delegation to visit the Interim Secretariat of the International Mangrove Center (IMC). Both parties held discussions on practical pathways for collaboration, focusing on key areas such as scientific research cooperation, international exchanges, and talent cultivation.

Prof. Bao Daming, Director General of the IMC Interim Secretariat, expressed gratitude for Shenzhen University’s long-standing support and provided an overview of the center’s background and recent initiatives. He emphasized that mangrove conservation is a critical issue in global ecological governance, requiring robust scientific research and technological collaboration. Building on the foundation of prior cooperation, he proposed establishing a regular coordination mechanism to explore practical collaboration pathways in scientific research, international exchanges, and joint talent cultivation, thereby advancing the protection and restoration of mangrove ecosystems.
Vice President Chao Naipeng reiterated Shenzhen University’s strong commitment to the strategic partnership with the IMC. He stated that the university would implement the strategic agreement through clearer collaborative mechanisms, leveraging its strengths in scientific research resources, youth engagement, and talent development. Key focus areas will include remote sensing monitoring of mangroves, co-establishment of joint laboratories, foreign aid projects, international talent cultivation, and inter-university cooperation, all aimed at supporting the IMC’s goal of becoming a globally influential comprehensive platform.
The meeting successfully identified priority areas for collaboration and yielded positive outcomes. Moving forward, both parties will strengthen coordination, establish specialized working mechanisms, and gradually implement cooperative initiatives to jointly contribute to the global efforts in mangrove ecological conservation and sustainable development.
