Xiamen University Visits the IMC

On 16 October 2025, a delegation from Xiamen University, led by Mr. Wang Sheng, Head of the College of the Environment and Ecology Xiamen University, visited the Interim Secretariat of the International Mangrove Center (IMC). Both sides held productive discussions on the current state of mangrove conservation and restoration efforts in China and internationally, and explored future cooperation in scientific research, capacity building, knowledge sharing, and outreach.

During the meeting, the Xiamen University presented recent project outcomes on mangrove conservation, management, and sustainable use. They also introduced observation and research achievements carried out at the Zhangjiangkou Mangrove Teaching and Research Base, along with capacity building activities conducted in China and overseas. Xiamen University expressed willingness to cooperate with IMC on joint research and talent cultivation, especially training and exchanges among countries, as well as academic visits and joint field studies.

The Interim Secretariat welcomed the delegation from Xiamen University and looks forward to deepening collaboration in scientific research and capacity building. It will also strengthen science communication and co-develop related publications, support greater international participation and exchange among youth, and promote the global dissemination and application of mangrove conservation and restoration practices, thereby contributing to global mangrove conservation and sustainable development.

The meeting provides an opportunity for dialogue and cooperation between both sides in future to enhance communication, and leverage their respective institutional and research strengths, collaborate on capacity building, knowledge sharing, and outreach to contribute to global mangrove conservation and restoration.
