From October 9–13, 2025, the International Mangrove Center (IMC) organized an exhibition at the 2025 International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) World Conservation Congress (WCC), presenting IMC’s core concept, development, strategy and key achievements to the global nature conservation community.
The event drew a wave of influential supporters, including Dr. Musonda Mumba, Secretary General of the Ramsar Convention, alongside Mr. Dai Jintao, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen, and Ms. Wu Jun from China’s Ministry of Natural Resources. These leaders expressed strong interest in the IMC’s ongoing efforts to advance global mangrove conservation and strengthen international cooperation.
Mr. Dai Jintao, the Vice Mayor of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, and Ms. Wu Jun, the Deputy Director General from the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Natural Resources of People’s Republic of China, visited the IMC Booth.
Dr. Musonda Mumba, Secretary General of the Ramsar Convention Secretariat visited the IMC Booth.
In a meeting with Mr. Stewart Maginnis, IUCN Deputy Director General, Mr. Dai Jintao, the Vice Mayor of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, stated that Shenzhen hopes to work with IUCN to support IMC in activities related to knowledge sharing, scientific research cooperation, and policy innovation, fostering international dialogue and joint action in mangroves and blue carbon, and further enhancing the conservation and sustainable use of mangrove ecosystems worldwide.
The exhibition also welcomed representatives from leading international organizations such as WWF, IUCN, Wetlands International, BirdLife International, and the East Asian–Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP), who engaged in meaningful exchanges on mangrove conservation, blue-carbon research, and collaborative initiatives.
The event drew approximately 300 on-site visitors, while the IMC website recorded over 1,000 visits during the congress. The exhibition not only showcased the IMC’s progress and future vision but also established a new pathway for partnership among governments, international organizations, research institutes, and NGOs.
