China Society of Forestry Delegation Visits the International Mangrove Center

On September 10, 2025, a delegation led by Mr. Ma Guangren, Vice President of the China Society of Forestry (CSF), visited the International Mangrove Center (IMC) for discussions on the IMC’s development, international cooperation mechanisms, and the integration of natural education into mangrove conservation efforts.

During the meeting, Mr. Bao Daming, Director General of the IMC Interim Secretariat, presented an overview of the IMC’s progress and recent initiatives. He commended CSF’s pioneering contributions to forest and grassland resource protection, public education, science outreach, and international collaboration, highlighting its vital role in raising public awareness of ecosystem conservation. He expressed his hope to work closely with CSF to extend China’s practical experience in natural education to IMC member states.

Mr. Ma Guangren  acknowledged IMC’s achievements and emphasized that mangrove ecosystems worldwide are facing serious challenges. He noted that many mangrove countries are taking actions to strengthen protection and restoration, and the establishment of IMC provides an important platform for joint responses to these global challenges. He also outlined CSF’s leading practices in natural education, including the establishment of the National Headquarters for Nature Education, hosting the China Nature Education Conference, publishing the China Nature Education Development Report, and building a nationwide nature education network. He expressed  his wish to deepen collaboration with IMC by integrating CSF’s resources into IMC’s international exchanges and training activities, as well as strengthening synergies with the National Headquarters for Nature Education to promote the combination of education and conservation.

Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in mangrove conservation and natural education, promote resource sharing and capacity-building, and jointly advance global mangrove protection and restoration. IMC will continue to expand international partnerships and public engagement, working with all stakeholders to contribute to global ecological governance.
